Become a Recreational Running Leader

Sapphire Coast Runners is coordinating with Athletics NSW to hold a Level 1 Recreational Running Leader Course locally in early 2019.

About the Course

The Level 1 Recreational Run Leader Course introduces how to lead a recreational run group under the guidance of a Level 2 Intermediate Recreational Running Coach or higher. In the course, participants learn the fundamental skills of running and how to design warm up and cool down components of a session.

Topics include the introduction to training runners, encouraging long-term participation, design a warm-up and cool down, fundamental skills or running, training elements and how to successfully lead run groups.

Pre-course:

  • Community Coaching General Principles online course
  • Play by the Rules – Child Protection module

Course Length:

2 Hours Pre-Course Work + 7 Hours Face-to-Face (Practical and Theory)

Cost

$190 – SCR members*
$210 – non-members

*5 sponsored spots will be awarded by the committee to senior club members who would be willing to contribute coaching time to some club training sessions.  Please note, members who run club coaching must be eligible to hold a Working With Children Check

Date & Venue

It is anticipated that this course will be held in early 2019, at a venue in either Bega or Merimbula. We will update this page when confirmed

Level 1 Recreational Run Leader Course - EOI FORM

  • We are currently seeking expressions of interest from members and non-members who would like to attend this course, being held early 2019. Expressions of interest close 31/12/18.
